VEGAN: A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH OF LIVING
A popular
lifestyle trend in the society which is going viral is VEGANISM or VEGAN. Vegan
are those population who does not consume animal products in any form; be it
meat, dairy products, or any related items. A vegan diet is lactose-free and dairy-free
and is healthier. The vegan population is growing rapidly worldwide. Vegan Inhabitants
has drastically increased and has boosted with a rate of 600% per year.
Veganism is a lifestyle that comes with an ethical, sustainable, ecological sound regime. In
surveys, it is found out that there are distinct reasons for opting for a vegan
diet. In different countries and regions, the availability of food products and
crops is different. In a few parts of the world due to low crop-yield or very few
agricultural practices, people cannot really shift to a vegetarian or vegan diet. But
except those others can consider being vegan once in their life.
Non-Vegetarians
or Meat eaters often use this argument that due to nutrition value they consume
meat or humans are omnivorous they should eat meat or animal products to
fulfill their health requirements, which is just an excuse to escape from
veganism.
So, let us
discuss this in detail.
FIVE REASONS
TO BECOME VEGAN:
Ethical
reasons: Animals are
living beings, they have equal rights as we have as a human on this planet, our
superiority in terms of few additional powers does not challenge their Right TO
LIVE. We literally slaughter animals just to satisfy our food demands, which is
ethically wrong. What if somebody slaughters our pets for food or can we imagine
doing this with other human beings. So, the whole concept is unethical, and we
should rethink about it.

think the meat industry is economically viable can these people also consider a terrorist
groups and other such violent organizations as economically feasible; those people
also, make a profit out of it.
Sustainable Approach: Vegan food is more sustainable as compared to the meat production process and animal farming. Vegan farming can save gallons of water. The meat industry is unsustainable in various aspects. The amount of capital wasted on meat production can be used to grow vegan crops to satisfy world food need.
Health Benefits: Vegan regimens are usually higher in dietary fiber, magnesium, folic acid, vitamins C and E, iron, and phytochemicals and they have a propensity to be lower in calories, saturated fat and cholesterol, long-chain n–3 (omega-3) fatty acids, vitamin D, calcium, zinc, and vitamin B-12 (8). In general, vegetarians typically enjoy a lower risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), obesity, type 2 diabetes,
and some
cancers (3). A vegan diet seems to be useful for increasing the intake of protective
nutrients and phytochemicals and for minimizing the intake of dietary factors
implicated in several chronic diseases (9). In a recent report (10), different plant
food groups were rated with respect to their metabolic epidemiologic evidence
for influencing chronic disease reduction. According to the evidence criteria
of the World Health Organization and Food and Agriculture Organization (WHO/FAO),
cancer risk reduction associated with a high intake of fruit and vegetables was
assessed as probable or possible, risk of CVD reduction as convincing, whereas
lower risk of osteoporosis was assessed as probable (10). The evidence for a
risk-reducing effect of consuming whole grains was assessed as
possible
for colorectal cancer and probable for type 2 diabetes and CVD. The evidence
for a risk-reducing effect of consuming nuts was assessed as probable for CVD
(10).
